According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post , the Rangers offered Jody Shelley a two-year contract in the neighborhood of $825,000. They also offered center Erik Christensen a contract, which was rejected.

Shelley, who was acquired mid-season last year from the San Jose Sharks, earned $725,000 last season, registering two goals and six points in 21 games with the Rangers on the fourth line.
Christensen on the other hand, was not qualified by the Rangers, and rejected a two-year deal worth $750,000 per season, making him an unrestricted free agent.

The Rangers also placed forwards Aaron Voros, Donald Brashear, and Patrick Rissmiller on waivers. It is unlikely that they—especially Brashear—will be picked up by another team; they will be assigned to the AHL.
